Well the truth is somewhere in the middle. Intelligence can help you overwhelm a more powerful opponent but if you lack the power or better the skills to pull it off, then it won't make any difference. Power on the other hand can be very useful but unless it's of a complete different level from that of an opponent, it will loose to an intelligent guy who has less strength. It has to do more with analogy. You can say that power is the vessel through which you can use your intelligence to its full potential but that can also be said vice-versa.

Intelligence to use power correctly. Neither of them is a very good feat alone.

except for playing chess or solving puzzles. Intelligence. Power won't do shit.

It depends on the situation. A setup like Hidan VS Shikamaru. Obviously Intelligence wins because it's clearly Hidan's weakness.Pit Madara VS Shukaku, the outcome will be different. Overall, I say power is more important in a world like Naruto.

Also the Kabuto/Itachi comparison is stupid. Both are incredibly powerful geniuses.

Both are very important, Intelligence is important and can help someone defeat a powerful opponent but that's up to a point for example all the intelligence in the world couldn't change the outcome of the Five Kage vs Madara fight, absolute power can overwhelm even the smartest opponents.

naruto has power but kakashi has intelligence
and kakashi im sure will 99% f the time will win because he analyzes his opponents weak spots before his opponent even lads a move

naruto already outsmart kakashi fight and outsmart many opponents with great inttelligence..

If you can't do anything about the problem, intelligence doesn't win the battle, but if you aren't smart enough to know how to win, power could still win the battle. In a battle, I'd say power. Take a look at Naruto for example.

However power is a lot more important, if you have mountain busting abilities, then you don't need to be all that intelligent sorry..

For example Shikamaru no matter how Intelligent he is, he's not beating Hashirama

the example you brought was stupid as itachi also has power.

it should be like this: shikamaru vs kyuubi.

shikamaru intelligence isn't beating an overwhelming power that can bust mountains, villages.

so in most cases even in real life, power is more needed.

And the battle you mentioned wasn't Power vs Intelligence...... Itachi simply had a trick Kabuto was unaware of.

Power, look at the 3rd and forth raikage's, not the sharpest knives in the drawer but both are stupid OP, compare that to someone who relies on actual intelligence, such as shikamaru.

Having so much of either can only take you so far. Shikamaru could be the pinnacle of intellect, but look at how many people he can't beat.

Comparatively Naruto is one of the pinnacles of power, but he almost got beat foolishly by Edo Nagato because he didn't think about Nagato's powers.

Or maybe a better example is Hidan: a extremely powerful shinobi (in terms of Kenjutsu/immortality), but was completely overcome by people weaker than him.



Both are needed, but at the end of the day Intelligence can allow weaker shinobi to best ones that are only so much higher.

Imho it depends on the amount of power and the amount of intellect. Also..Itachi imho is tons stronger than Kabuto.
