The first thing we've learned is: next time, just let Orochimaru kill the orphans.
The second thing we've learned is: next time, just let Sasuke burn the Juubi.

The overall lesson here: Just let the borderline sociopaths kill stuff before people start regretting it.

Sasuke couldn't have burned down the Juubi or else it would have happened. Juubi shed Amaterasu. I agree though if Orochimaru had been left to do whatever he wanted we'd have a whole different case at this point in the manga
