itachi preventged othing. if it was other nations he was so worried about, they could ahve invaded just because konoha lost a whole clan overnight. but the fact is that itachi wasnt needed to stop the civil war. danzo and hiruzen didnt need his help. furthermore, itachio ensured that countless civilians will die in devastating attacks around the world due to doing nothing about orochimaru, danzo, bijuus, sasuke, obito or nagato. either outright nothing or waited til it was too late.
so basically itachi is ok with murdering a fairly weak clan full of kids and housewives but a powerful mad scientist and corrupt politician are off limits?
