What happens to Kiba when Akamaru dies?

Dogs typically live about 10 years. And Akamaru has been in the series for a very long time, he is in the childhood flashbacks of Naruto and Kiba. He was alive lets say at least 3 years before the start of Naruto, so combine that plus lets say one year for Part 1, two years for time skip, and one year for Part 2, he is 7 years old at least. That is pretty old in dog years. Kiba is already extremely weak, without Akamaru he will have to form a new bond with a dog and form all the basic jutsus together with him and teamwork.

Did he have Pakkun & co in the flashbacks when he was 14? Anyway, you guys are probably correct about Ninkens living longer. Akamaru still acts and looks very young considering his old age by dog years.

The series has 1000 year old toad sages so its pretty obvious that animals can live longer then normal. Tsume's partner Kuromaru is a lot more battle worn and a lot larger then the other nin-dogs of the clan. This would suggest that he has been around for a long time and is likely Tsume's first partner.

He will mourn Akamaru's death and learn to progress his tracker senses on his own. No one can replace akamaru.

We didn't see it in the anime but in the manga they are kishi drawings from the time he was anbu and he has them.

He joined anbu before the attack of Obito and kuubi in Konoha.So I guess he has them from around 14.

Akamaru is a ninja dog. Far different from a real life dog. Also, Kiba isn't that bad power wise (at least when compared to other members of the Konoha 11), without Akamaru he would just lose the advantage of attacking 2v1 and he could probably get another dog, assuming he doesn't just give up being a shinobi after Akamaru's death.
