I was wondering the other day, what will happen to Kiba when Akamrau dies, either naturally or in battle? Would he have to get a new dog, what would he do?

Then i realised that the same situation will be the case for every member of the clan, dogs dont live as long as humans by any standard, and its almost certain that eventually each members Ninken will die, either in combat or naturally.

Does anyone know what happens when this occurs? Do they get a new dog? Have a special ceremony? Mark the death on the fangs on their face?

I have no idea so i thought i should ask.

Lol. I wondered the same thing. Akamaru was like three and still a puppy right. So maybe these dogs live much longer then actual non ninja dogs.

they specialize in dogs .... Im pretty sure they have ways of making them live longer plus it seems that the dog can use ninja techs or at least some of them this could make them live longer also

I would assume that if, for example, Akamaru were to fall in battle then Kiba would have to pick another dog that has a resemblance to Akamaru. Ninja dogs probably have extended life cycles so they won't die of old age that much earlier than their human counterpart. But in the case of battle, it'd be likely that the next dog chosen would form a bond close to that of Akamaru and Kiba. I mean it's also possible that they just don't pick another dog.

As for how it happens, perhaps a Destiny Bond-esque thing. Where if Akamaru were to die then so would Kiba. That'd be interesting maybe with like a blood injection thing or a paw print. I don't know but it certainly is interesting to think about.

I don't know the lifespan of canines in Naruto,
but Akamaru must have pups U_U
Kiba would raise one of them.
Yeah i guessed that having puppies would be the norm, but what if they die before then?

Get a new one... what's he gonna do? Revive them with Edo Tensei?
Its a forbidden technique that only a handful of ninja can use and even less are prepared to use it :p

I also considered this, but dogs only last around 20 years max from my understanding. Getting to a humans lifespan of around a max of 80 in Naruto at least is a bit of a stretch, its 4 times as long.

Plus larger dogs dont live as long as smaller dogs, so it sorta flies in the face of normality to say that larger dogs would live longer still.

Good question, I would like to think that Akamaru would have pups and then Kiba would raise one of them. But I also like the destiny bond idea where if akamaru dies so does Kiba, kinda makes there tag team that much risky and epic.

It would be pretty cool, but i cant see how a bond like that would work between a human and a dog.

I believe its been said, but I am sure that just like all of the other ninja animals in the Narutoverse the ninja dogs have greatly extended lifespans, so that they would age at roughly the same as the ninja themselves, after about three or so on the dog's part...
