What happened to the hunter x hunter manga?

I just completed the anime and the last manga chapter is from 2014

Why did they stop

It's on hiatus. The anime stopped because of lack of source material to work with and the manga was on hiatus. I wouldn't bet on another HxH anime return for a good 10+ years (assuming Togashi finishes the series by then). I suggest reading from HxH chapter 340 to 349 since you just finished the anime.

I did, i also checked all the release date of the manga.
The drawing is really really bad and chapter 344 or 345 was released in 2012
Then after 2 years he released 5 more chapters and quit again.
Right before a major new arc..

Chp. 344/345 wasn't released in 2012, it was 2014 and the art is good for those set of chapters. Hiatus means break.
