Fist of all this is completely a speculation and i am not saying that this is precisely accurate,SO DONT FLAM
Ok this is what i think happened with them in the future. Hashirama finds out that Madara is from the clan that killed his brother,and Madara somehow finds out the Hashirama is from the senju clan that took the lives of many uchiha(maybe including izuna). And they both end up becoming enemies or maybe this will be only be madara's aggression. In a attempt to surpass each other and the opposing clan,both Madara and Hashirama grow extremely powerful with Hashirama learning SM and Madara awakening the EMS(just like naruto and sasuke) and also become the leaders of their clan.Then Hashirama made the smart move and made an allliance with Madara while Madara(consumed by evil) had developed a hatred for hashirama and the senju clan,and could not digest that hashirama was elected as the first hokage instead of him.Madara decides to destroy konoha.This can be proven in the manga chapter 621,when hasirama says to Madara that,"...do you want to destroy all we have done so far?....all or efforts.Our fight will bring nothing....it will just hurt the village and the shinobi.It's is an insult to our brothers and comrades."Or,
The other thing that could have happened was that they made a plan to form an alliance in their childhood,when they became the leaders of their clan.But as they grew up and became powerful,Madara's brother died and he became evil.After forming and an alliance and setting the leaf village,and making the ninja world a bit more stable.Madara's still held an grudge against the senju and could not accept hashirama as the first hokage,in fear that they would oppress the uchiha and due to his evilness.And the rest is already
