they didnt have a kekkei genkai that usually keeps a clan together..they were jus good fighters. so overtime they disbanded. most clans that u see in naruto hav a special kekkei genkai or jutsu that identifies them..if u see a senju u may never knw they were senju

Taking into account that a clan doesn't necessarily mean blood relation, it seems likely that all the various clans in Konoha, especially those considered the Noble clans, were originally apart of the Senju clan before the village was created. We've already seen that some of the clans were working together long before the village was formed.
