Well we have only ever seen or heard of 2 namikazes', and they just happen to be in the top 10 shinobi of all time list. Yes I'm talking about Minato and Naruto.

Imo, Minato may have been an orphan, and the name namikaze was given to him.

So even if there is no namikaze clan, there will be one with Naruto and his descendants, and they will surely be top tier shinobi... Not fodder xd

He is both, except the 3rd hokage had him named uzumaki to protect him against his father's enemies. He is actually supposed to be namikaze, it doesnt matter what his last name is though, cause he is the best of both worlds xd

First of all it is not stated any ware in the Manga as Clan. Not every Ninja comes from a clan. The academy takes in children for ninja training from the village that includes clan members and non clan members. Children from shop keepers,merchants and clan members are admitted and tested. Minato could be from a regular family that were merchants,or an Orphan. We don't know because Kishi has never revealed the story of Minato's childhood prior to Kushina joining the village. Minato could be a plumbers son for all we know. Fact is we do now that by the time He was an Hokage He was the last Namikaze sines no one was their from the Namikaze to claim and raise Naruto, and the Uzumaki were in hiding.

Why is being a strong Ninja constantly related to being member of a Clan? There are plenty of strong Shinobi who are not in a Clan, like Sasori, Kisame, Kakashi or Guy... Seriously, Clans often complicate things more than necessary. Unless of course we're talking about the Hyuuga Clan, which basically gives the world the most good looking bastards and chicks.
