Kakashi mentioned in the beginning of both Part 1 and Part 2 that Sakura had a knack for genjustu...yet all she did in all 700 chapters was dispel it less than 5 times. Why bother to bring it up if she never even got to use this supposed talent?

No need for another genjutsu user in team 7

Guess Kishi forgot or scrapped the idea. When it comes to genjutsu he really only focuses on the Uchiha.

Wasn't explored...she was mainly focused on healing.

Probably because most of the Genjutsu dealt with after early Part II was stronger and more potent, beyond Sakura's ability.

It also may have been some symbolism on Kishi's end regarding her love for Sasuke. The girl with the Genjutsu affinity loves the boy with the blessed Genjutsu eyes... it seems slightly romantic. Or maybe it's just me.

All genjutsu looks like fodder techniques compared to the sharingan

No need to make her look bad

Her jutsu was constantly being outdone by Sasuke, so that does make sense. It's a loose end that was never tied up, and that's the part that bothers me.

Makes me think of the Abridged series: "Sharingan's only, *****!"

I hadn't thought of that! She didn't seem to be very fond of Itachi though XD

I think because she was basically switched to a medic, it was time to display her chakra control, and how much she had learned to master it.

It's because Kishi has a tendency to break the Chekhov's Gun literary rule.

What's the Chekhov's Gun literary rule

If something is introduced, it must be included.

For instance, hypothetically, if Hashirama were to give Sasuke some jutsu to defeat Madara, according to this "rule" that jutsu must be shown, otherwise there is no reason to include it.

Her would probably be too Op.
Genjutsu works on the basis of controlling your opponents chakra
Sakura chakra control is perfected and canonically the best.
Logically no one should be able to dispel it.

She was shown to be a medic in Part 2, though. I could overlook it if it had been briefly mentioned at the beginning of Part 1, but it came up more than once and was brought up again during the second bell test as why she would surpass Tsunade. Genjutsu would have some use to medic, as they could incapacitate opponents to create time to heal teammates.

Kotetsu and Izumo before the written part of the exams, and Kabuto when he put everyone to sleep during the Chuunin exams. I don't believe she was exposed to it in Part 2, but don't quote me on that.
