What happen to the Rasengan?

I remember the Rasengan doing this to a water tank

How does it work? In the scan above it seems like the Rasengan makes everything on the inside explode out through the back? Is that internal damage?

Did the effect of the Rasengan change? Does it still do that kind of damage? Or is it because Shinobi are more durable than water tanks so none of their internal comes splashing out from the back?

the difference is, all the other examples were against ninjas & the ground - rigid objects that absorb & diffuse the force/shock waves
but the tank is just a thin piece of metal w/ lots of water, so the water pressure burst the tank like a balloon, see?

I remember Jiraya use it on a guy in part 1. He hit the guy and the guy spins away with the rasengan. But now in part 2, it explodes on contact.

Ransengans are basically like explosive drills. It starts off very small in a concentrated spot, then expands explosively. However, since it's drill-like and on an enemy, it doesn't look explosive. The ransengan's actually pretty powerful if you think about it. All that explosive force focused into a single, small area, drilling through the enemy. It equals chidori in power, and there's very good chidori feats.
