do you really think that humanity will survive at this rate ? with the invisible hand of the free market (that means that when everyone is pursuing his own goog humanity tends to achieve good things for the whole population).

do you really think that all this COP 22 and all this political crap is enough to save our children ? in a documentary I've seen that the earth's population expands at more than twice the regeneration rate of the earth's ressources. the ressources are becoming really scarce and we will have big problems with that by the hundred years that will come. the effect of the human devastation on earth is visible to the naked eye over the years when earth is watched from space. and the athmorsphere is really thin.

yet they seem to take their time, these politicians, everyone looking for his own interests, while we are in big trouble.

The real question we should ask is: How will stopping any of this benefit me?

Thing is we'll all be long dead before any of this comes to pass.
I don't care about being a hero, only immature kids think that way.

What I do care about is the 100 year timespan when I'm actually alive, I care about my immediate family and friends, I want to make a better life for myself and them but to hell with anything else.

The earth or humanity is no one's responsibility, saying otherwise is what's truly selfish.

Humanity will survive, when humans first come to existence they were hunted by so many predators that it was not even funny and that was Natural order of that time. But Human rejected it in fear and started fight against everything, if we could raise from apes to todays civilization then nothing will stop us from ultimate goal to conquer stars.

I completely understand your point of view, but what about your children ? won't you care about them ? because they WILL face the concequences of this.

I guess you're right, one of the laws of this universe is that everything has a begining and an end, so humanity's fate is innevitably extinction so that new beings can come to existence. But if this extinction comes from humanity itself and not some giant planet hitting earth, or the sun exploding in around 4 billion years then it will be trully magnificent. terrific xD

I don't want humanity to survive if only 1% of it remains on the dead bodies of the rest.

Yes, I would care about my future children, but at that point it's their world. They'll have to fix it themselves, don't get me wrong I do want to make things better if I can but there is way too much wrong with the world. For that reason there is far too much work involved, the cost-benefit ratio isn't good at all so I figure since this doesn't personally concern me I'm much better off enjoying my life because I didn't make this happen and it won't matter once I'm dead.

Humans will survive until the next mass extinction event; like all creatures on this planet. Some 99.9% of all creatures that have lived on Earth are now extinct. Crappy politicians, laws, and faulty governments will not end the existence of all humanity, though they can temporarily make it unbearable. We may be facing some world wide civilization changes in the next fifty years, but the total eradication of our species? No.

I find your egocentric attitude towards the future of humanity very loathsome. If humans from previous generations carried a similar nihilistic mentality as you do, you'd have no life to better. Humans should carry a mentality of humanitarianism in hopes that, in some form or fashion, during your life on earth, that you contributed to the advancement of the human race; whether that contribution is direct or indirect is up to you. If you live your life with that inhumane attitude, when your life comes to an end, everything you were and will had achieved during your life will die with it. Your existence will be the very definition of nihilism.

Because as technology advances, change becomes quicker and quicker. the people who "didn't care" in their 20's are now kicking themselves in the ass in their 40's - 60's for not listening and being cautious because they were thinking like you by "living in the moment". the good days of "oh it's my grand-sons problem" is over. right now, were already drug resistant super bugs, oil, water, pollution crises etc. stuff that could've been easily avoided or at the very least slowed down if they were more careful about the repercussions. I would call it ignorance bliss, but we don't even get the "bliss" perk anymore

The notion that one person's life were more meaningful than another is an illusion.

Your legacy is as fleeting as your life, when you're dead the only thing you are is a memory, depending on what you did, a few people may remember you but once they die no one will remember you. Once humanity comes to an end, all human achievement will be equally useless so wake up.

The value of life is in the moment, enjoy your life to the fullest so you can die with a smile on your face, knowing you had a blast.

Of course, none of this is to say progress isn't good, go for it but don't lose sight of what truly matters in the end.
