I find it hard to believe that simply "Robot" or "puppet" is one of the Six Paths. So, I thought a bit about alternate explanations, and may have discovered something chilling (if it's not already been theorised, but I don't think it has). Thanks to DrProof, anyway! Good discussions make my brain work harder.
Asura Path represents Nagato's ability to seal objects into himself, and alter his anatomy (or call forth entirely new body parts) to release said objects in a highly lethal fashion. Asura could be termed second in lethality to the Deva path itself. Or could even be on par with it, depending on Pein's access to quality weaponry. It was his go-to Path for confronting both Kakashi and Tsunade, two VERY dangerous ninja, and Nagato is not known for his stupidity. He wouldn't send a fodder path against them. It was also instrumental in his pinning (and arguably defeating) both KM Naruto and Killerbee.
Proof:
Take note of Bee's comment ("He summoned some kind of mechanical armor?") This implied that my theory isn't exactly incorrect, perhaps he summoned it from some strange realm where he had previously placed it. Or Bee is wrong.
Why would I think the weapons displayed by Asura were man-made when they're clearly on a different level to anything else shown in terms of technology?
Narutoverse technology is schizophrenic in the extreme (can that term even be applied?). They have computers, but not cars. They have handheld radios of a decent range, but no widespread longrange communication, like Hidden Village to Hidden Village contact routes (telephone type things), that aren't Jutsu based. Their PAPER is a decent explosive, but guns don't exist.
And Amegakure is unique.
The city is FAR more industrialized than any other that has been shown, implying a greater level of technology (and a weird fetish for pipes).
Other evidence for Amegakure having superior weapons technology comes from Konan, of all people. Where else would she have gotten her freakishly large bomb collection? Yes, that's what I excluseively refer to it as.
Question: If Amegakure has 100,000 active ninja (half as many as the main villages have on average), and twice as many people than that capable of making explosive notes, how many need to be made each for her collection to be complete? Take note, though, that BOTH of those numbers are VERY optimistic.
Answer: EVERY SINGLE PERSON NEEDS TO MAKE 30,000 BOMBS!
This seems ridiculously unlikely. The only other explanation I can think of is sophisticated mass-production, i.e.: Factories.
Factories capable of efficiently creating ENORMOUS AMOUNTS of chakra-based weaponry. Lazers and missiles are a bit of a leap even from that, but not a HUGE one.
Plus, Pein would save the goodies for himself.
So, thoughts?
EDIT: Also, LAZERS:
This had to be included somehow. It's just too BADASS!
Summary for the lazy people:

Asura Path turns the user's body into Tenten's Weapon Scroll on STEROIDS. (LAAAAZEEEER!)
