Looked it up never stated but in the databook it's written he knows wind lightning and fire release so I'm assuming he tried combing those 3.

Only his primary element, secondary wouldn't cut it.

Naruto has wind, so it was likely wind.

He wasn't shown to use any elemental rasengans. It took him a few years to develop rasengan itself, if I can remember. But there was no further development.​
