Its called that because they are breaching through Spacetime continuum.

Time because essentially you're(or a object) teleporting instantly to a different space and time must pause to make that transition because it's still traveling but done instantly through the pausing of time and the skipping of space.

You mean they are traveling through both space and time as well when they warp?

Because based on this model time is not fourth dimension but rather its united with space. Time cannot be separated from three dimension of space. Some theories include fact that there can exist some temporal dimension, something like Kamui for example.

But basically you need to have object defined by Length, Breadth, Thickness, and Duration. So if you want to travel like this you need to have definite point even in time. Because you could be jumping randomly like idiot and probably only some parts of your body would arrive somewhere.

I thought high speed movement is what slowed down time for an object and teleportation makes you not have to worry about speed limits or the time it would take to get from one place or another. but if space and time are linked like you guys said then teleportation is the same as traveling to a different space and time.

For example lets say minato was in konoha and kakashi was going to kill rin in 1 second and at the fastest speed he could move Minato would take 2 seconds in kakashi's time to reach there even if he ran so fast that time slowed down he'd still be too late but if he uses FTG he can just teleport to the future and stop it before it happened

Space time isn't really legit for the jutsus in naruto like hiraishin, ameno . . .

When one is able to travel through space and time, they're able to teleport to a different space in the same timeline (hence the Space), and also they can travel to a different timeline (past or future). If naruto characters can't do this then their Space time jutsus aren't exactly abilities that can manipulate space and time, just space.

EDIT: There're different interpretations to Space-time though. This is my basic understanding

He could change way time moves with extremely high gravity and kill himself at it. But to travel through time would require energy comparable to solar eruption. So he would probably arrived dead from chakra depletion.

If ninjutsu can be used to travel through space then there's potential for someone to use S/t to warp time. Who knows ? Maybe Sarada's MS will allow her to teleport like Sasuke with the left eye and warp time with the right.

This is a complex issue, but to make it as simple as i can, teleportation jutsu like FTG ameno, kamui, yamotso hirasaka, etc move you to a different space (location within a dimensional plane) in a greatly shortened length of time (as in time it would take to move to a certain space) For instance, if i ran 100 meters it would take me 11 seconds, to move through that 100 meters worth of space, (space, time) where with the FTG jutsu I could simply manipulate my location (space) to move 100 meters in less than 1 second (greatly reducing the amount of time it took me to get there.) thats how i see it anyway

That's what I was thinking.

Ok but i don't get how energy is a problem. like how does sasuke effortlessly make a portal leading to a different planet without complaining for chakra? i think in real life you'd need crazy energy to warp space that much

Well all you need is one Stargate. And considering that most of these timespace theories are just theories we must accept fact that Kishi just choose it because it sound ****ing cool. Because i doubt that kishi started solving equation about time and space for required for FTG.

I don't think that's right. They teleport the user instantaneously becaue there was never any difference in time it took for users to get from point a to be. like it doesn't take minato any longer to warp from on top gamabunta to the ground as it would take him to warp from a larger distance. i think what you're talking about is high speed movement because the faster an object moves through space the more time slows down for them

Space-time techniques create wormholes to jump to a specified location faster than you can reach it by travel. It doesn't manipulate time whatsoever since there's no such thing as time (and there's no such thing as wormholes either). It's just mangakas using real life fantasy to make their manga interesting.

Agree, honestly I was wondering if when Sasuke went to Momoshiki's planet if he actually traveled back in time which would explain why they never showed up while kaguya was there since it doesn't make sense for her timing to be wayy off by hundreds or thousands of years like that.

If he was traveling through time that would open another can of worms called time paradox and that its not even funny.

Also considering we are talking about people making pocket dimension on one scroll with piece of ink that anything is possible.

it's complicated to explain in a simple way. all you need to know is from 2 perspective is they see it being instantaneous. so for example, when itachi mentallly tsukuyomi'ed kakashii for 72hours but from another person perspective it was practically instant. space part is just shifting through dimension to get to point A to B faster.

Hmm.

Traveling involves the time taken to cover a certain distance. It is only possible to cover a distance instantaneously by slowing down time until it stands still therefore making it impossible for a wormhole which does not affect the 'time' aspect of the Space-Time continuum to exist. The entire concept of a theoretical wormhole revolves around manipulating time----and time does exist, as it prevents everything from occurring at once.

You can sit on those fanatical theories and wait for humans to start manipulating it.
