Genesis 6King James Version (KJV)

1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

Does this mean that God doesn't know the future or am i understanding it wrong?

There isn't a verse to my knowledge that specifically mentions God being a fortune teller. I believe that myth comes from the concept of God being "all knowing" being blown out of proportion, which I interpret as knowing all outcomes when it comes to the choices we make as opposed to him literally knowing every choice we make before we make it

But I think the concept is supposed to be more like God can see the entire timeline while we can only see the moments as we live them. Choices lead to consequences. Sometimes choices may change the consequences and alter our future in ways we can't see but because God can see the entire line, he can see the changes the choices make and knows how the pieces fit and how it ends either way

Knowing the future only works if destiny/fate is real, man being given free will means there is no destiny/fate therefor if their actions aren't predetermined it would be impossible to predict them.

The many interpetations of the bible bring about that confusion.

Isaiah 46:9–10

9 remember the former things of old;
for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me,
10 ydeclaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, z‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose,’

I'm not sure if it's the interpretation or just people in general are too different for something like religion. See even in that translation, I get "We've gone over this before. I'm God, one and only. Since the beginning I've been telling you my word is law, and I've proven such, and it will continue to be so even in times yet to come"

And that's pretty much what I get from every other translation I've seen of those verses. Not trying to get too religious or anything of course. But nothing about that says to me "God has my fate sealed and there's nothing I can do about it". To me that's not even a logical interpretation of this verse, yet someone else can look at it and get something totally different. I guess it's what you make it

I think if you know the beginning from the end that it must mean you know the faith of everything. that's like looking at "life" in general as a time line that we are all just pieces of going towards a fixed destination. So pretty much since God can see the future then he knows what choices we'll make and the said consequences. Now if you say he doesn't know this then he really isn't a representation of what God should be.

God gave man free will.

Also if the concept of omnipotence exists, that means he can also limit his omniscience. I would assume it's boring to know everything all of the time.

God gave man free will for a reason. If he wanted to control their paths, he would have done otherwise.

I wanted to say something like this myself

The plothole answer was funny. Misunderstandings are coming from translation and interpretation.

Does it really matter? I mean ask yourself deep down do you really care whether or not this is true or are you simply trying to cause a ruckus?
