What does the Rinnegan actually do?

We all know what the Sharingan does, more or less, no need to cover the basic stuff. We also know plenty about the taijutsu Byakugan. Both these dojutsu have properties that can demolish people in battle.


The Rinnegan however, is still a mystery. All we really know is that you can use dead bodies and control them with chakra the eye grants, every body will be like a human camera, you can see through them and use all their powers, or in Pains case, specific powers among six bodies. We can be sure the Gedo Mazo is tied to the user of the Rinnegan giving him the power of the tailed beasts as well(once captured inside the Mazo). There are many more things, like the ability to use all the elements, this eye is still baffles me.

Tendo Pains powers, Shinra and Chibaku Tensei have not yet been used by either Tobi or Madara, was it because of Nagatos Uzumaki heritage?

I think they said it's the perfected version of the sharingan or whatever you would awake when you fully perfected it.

I just wonder, if it is like this, why did Pain never use Sharingan techniques like amaterasu or susanoo? I didn't see his edo techniques being better than susanoo. But maybe he didn't feel like he had to.

Nagato had years to master rinnegan techniques while those two haven't especially Tobi, so they won't be able to use the techniques as much

i think rinnegan is of a class its own separate of sharingan. though its possible u can awaken the rinnegan if u have sharingan, they are still 2 separate eye techniques with different abilities. and as for what it actually does im not quite sure since it varies so much between person with six paths and all that. and madara didnt even use any technique like that with his rinnegan yet...

Well Madara did summon a METEOR! Anyway, that one is called Bansho Tennin, its the same thing as when Pain dropped the mountain side on 6 tailed Naruto.

Maybe Madara has but hasn't been pushed to the level of needing to use them, while Tobi definitely hasn't, I think the rinnegan techniques will be the same for Madara and Tobi if they use it, we pretty much know all of the rinnegan techniques there are, considering we have only seen one pair of eyes use them in the series.

it would be more logical if those that surpassed the sharingan would evole their eye to the elder sons doujutsu but instead they skip that step and go straight to rinnegan

Thats interesting, but how do you know the Rinnegan that we know isnt the elder sons dojutsu? Maybe the sages Rinnegan was on another level, the moon is bigger than some meteor ya know..........

And I think It can control others Chakra .... not only dead but living people also ... if U insert that black rod ( they call it .. Chakra disruption blade i guess ) in anyone !
