what does popularity mean to you ?

Throughout history, popularity was and is the knowledge or awareness of a certain subject(s) among the majority of people. It's all defined by numbers; and frankly, if someone bases their social relevance off of numbers then they're sad people. I find it hilarious how people take popularity to such an extent in school, at least 90% of the people who thought "this person was 'popular'" will become completely irrelevant in the future. I'm not stating that the more people who know of you, the less of a person you really are. But it comes down to morals and internal motives.

basic definition is being well known by people around you. I feel its also having the ability to influence others. I remember when i first joined i said something and got bashed, i looked at some threads and some dude who was a sage and had a massive rep bar said the same thing and I saw some of the same people just slobbing on him NO LIE I SWEAR!! Haha. I personally dont care..... if ppl know me they know me.

At my school you at least do the announcements, assemblies, theater, and honor rolls. Best of all you can do is just start a fight and take off your shirt (can't for me cause I got boobs =.=) then let the security guard take you to your dean. Yep, thats how yo be a celebrity!

Popularity depends on the things you are good or bad at.Not attending parties is a good thing as it just's spoils some quality time and makes you a quite sort of a mystery among the people you are around.
You can even be popular in a negitive way.You may think that people like you but they are always ready to smash you when you are not around.
I think mysterious personalities who don't want to be in limelight are more popular than always blabbering one's.
Most people define the word popular in this way so that they can fit in easily.
