Kawaki is not a bad character. He just pales in comparison to BoruGodOfShinobito Uzumaki. But he does have the potential to become powerful. If he were to have hashirama cells integrated with his inorganic tech he would possibly gain a massive chakra reserve to go along with his tech skills and otsutsuki transformation. It would also be a good upgrade if he were to gain control of Nue. I don't think that is the route they will go with him but it would be cool to see that.

This is Naruto G o D Technical Skill that gets downplayed. Sasuke was never his equal. Naruto is just not a normal human. Ishiki did not have enough chakra to kill him... Sasuke was forced to flee. Could he have forced Naruto to retreat? Now imagine Boruto in Sasuke's situation and tell me if Ishiki would not have gotten bodied. He will pull a rinnegan out of his ass before he runs. That's gutsiness.
