As we know, manga are often full of metaphors when telling a story let alone saying a line that we all tends to analysis.
So I wonder when Naruto said “If we fight, we both will die” – it’s a metaphor for changes within oneself? Naruto, who is but a genin, will finally changed to become the man he’s destined to be. From the old Naruto, to the new and (I darest to say) all powerful Naruto, a Hokage of Hidden Leaf (perhaps something more). Sasuke who is in the deep abyss that is darkness will finally emerge and see the light and thus, change. From the old Sasuke, to the new (and I darest to say) happier Sasuke, a man who will once more revive the Uchiha clan. But this time, with the full support and respect of the entire Ninja World.
So, with Naruto’s gift from Itachi, may it be a weapon, a jutsu, or simply a mirror for Naruto to see himself, it will be something that is pivotal in the epic fight between Naruto and Sasuke. I strongly believe it will be the key to turning the tide of battle to one or another’s favor. You could say that Itachi really knows his brother well – after all he did predicted that Sasuke would possess Orochimaru inside of him and the whole point of his battle with Sasuke was to remove Orochimaru..
Secondly, Itachi also transferred a justu into Sasuke’s eye that would activate Amatsura upon the sight of Madara. Who is to say that it’s not the only jutsu that Itachi transferred into Sasuke? There could very well be another justu hidden that’s parallel to the crow that’s been stuffed down Naruto’s throat. Perhaps, a powerful genjustu that throw them Sasuke and Naruto or Sasuke and Itachi or even everyone that Sasuke supposedly care about confronting Sasuke alone without his power … into a world where they are forced to confront one another..
Actually someone posted a different theory which I think really will fit the bigger picture – so with respect to The Figure’s theory, and whomever posted the initial theory that I’m adopting (and my having no facts to back up mine, all purely speculations out of pure enjoyment of Naruto series)
think during the epic battle between Naruto and Sasuke, Naruto is probably far more powerful than Sasuke, however, Naruto is fighting to save Sasuke regardless. Sasuke on the other hand is pure hatred and set on to kill, thus making him relatively more “motivated” and “stronger” in this battle.
So the battle will begin with Naruto having the upper hand at almost every turn. Shocking Sasuke continuously in how much Naruto have developed and how powerful he has become. However, Naruto’s resolve will waver as the battle wear on seeing that “not killing Sasuke” or rather, beating Sasuke soundly is not getting through his darkness. At that point, Sasuke will take advantage of this … “weakness”, use his Mangekyo or whatever hidden power Sasuke has to put Naruto at bay, in another word, beating Naruto soundly in return. This time, Sasuke will find himself in a position to deliver a finishing blow.
At the moment Sasuke deliver a finishing blow – it’ll be either something Sasuke say or the fact that Naruto is about to face immediate death that will trigger a genjustu out of Naruto’s eye and forced Sasuke into a world created by Itachi where Sasuke is forced to confront his bigger brother about the truth of the world and contemplate once and for all whether he’s on the right path..
That would be Itachi’s “gift” for Naruto, the truth that Sasuke needs to know, the truth that Itachi had hoped to take to the grave, literally.
After Sasuke’s confrontation of the absolute and final truth of things, to have a chance to stay the final good by to his bigger brother, he will find himself facing a newly revived Naruto as Naruto will sense the change in him. However, not a complete change and would never be complete without the traditional jousting style that Naruto have come to employ in virtually every major battle he fights.
This is where they both will agreed to have one final match – Rasengan vs Chidori – and they would face each other off..
Then I think this is where Naruto and Sasuke will both wake up, lying on the ground, with no strength to pick themselves up. But they will find themselves as a new person and will team up genuinely for the first time to defeat the powerhouse Madara. From there, Naruto will go on to become the Hokage he knew he would become. Sasuke will go on to revive the Uchiha Clan and either re-join Hidden Leaf or create his own village. At that point, Ninja World will know peace (figuratively speaking, what is Ninja without it’s battle?) for thousand of years to come..
Lastly… Hinata will be with Naruto and Sakura will be with Sasuke. (Note: I must confess, this is more of a personal preference rather a theory)
Final note: forgive me for this long post! Nevertheless, hope it was a good read for y’all!
