Whether or not Kishi intended for Sasuke to be in love with Sakura, and vice versa, the reality of the manga's narrative is that it was muddled and ultimately inconsequential that not only does Sakura have virtually nothing to do with Sasuke's character or story arc, the audience leaves with the knowledge that Sakura's ultimate lack of influence or depth is so great that Ino or any other token female character could have been on the team and the result would have been the same. That's how little these characters have connected, everything about it is generic.

Its just convenient for Sasusaku to use Sasuke's aloof persona to justify why he wouldn't show any signs of loving Sakura.
