what do I see in OP?
I see the one of the 2 greatest stories I have ever read and I see one of the 3 manga I think are best (the other 2 being Phoenix and Berserk), I also see the most successful mange ever written and I see a part of Japanese culture

I use to read one peice. I stopped keeping up with it around when ace died,for no particular reason. I like what I read,but I find the pacing of the story akward. I can't quite put my finger on it but its definatly something about the storys pacing that keeps me from picking it back up.

I may try though. I'm. Feeling inspired by op's haterade splash to read and enjoy every panle of it.


P.s hunterxhunter isn't that great. Id rather read prince of tennis ;p

So your curiosity has finally gotten to you. I've seen your posts and you have barley read anything. Who told you it gets good 300+ episodes in? It gets epic that far in and even before cause 300+ is near the end of one of the sagas. It gets good episode 22 where you meet one of the strongest characters in the anime, and Zoro wants to fight him. Before that is just plot building. Oda had never written a manga before. All he did was backgrounds for Rurouni Kenshin. This was his first attempt at a manga. You can tell this with the one episode with the guy stuck in a treasure box. Seems like total filler but it wasn't. It was Oda deciding to make this an episodic manga or one with a story.


This is why people don't seem to like the beginning of OP. Oda was still trying to figure stuff out. Of course he got his shit together and wrote one of the best stories to date. I mean some of the stuff written in there just makes you feel. Even in the very beginning, you hear about this guy named Zeff and in the flashback with Sanji how they survived. I mean the guy cut off his own leg and ate it. 90 days they were stranded without food. I mean can you imagine being put in that situation? An that isn't even once of the sadder pasts you hear. The SH's have gone through SO much and this is one of the big things that pulls you into the story.


When people say go start at episode 500+ or whatever because it has the best fighting scenes, and people do. They miss the best parts of the story. Then they compare what they saw to other manga/anime and say well its good, but not as good as *insert other anime here*. The fighting isn't a big deal in One Piece. It is just a plus. The story is the real deal. That is what draws people into this great manga.

Then the character development. The pasts these guys had to go through and what they had to do to overcome it. Their stories hook you in and you just want to know more about them. That is why you really don't hear much about this character is better then so and so. They all are great characters.

Then its the world development. At the beginning you get a gist of whats going on. There is a treasure in the Grand Line. Then you get hints dropped about some stuff like how some pirates consider it a paradise there. 600 chapters later you finally understand why they said that. I mean there is so much stuff like this in the manga. A suttle hint here and you wonder hmm what did they mean by that. Then in one chapter bam, you finally understand what is going on.



But I doubt you will read this anyways. This is just a bash thread in disguise. Have a nice day.

I am watching anime and reading manga.

To be honest anime is a shit in first 20, 30 episodes but come on... after that OP becomes interesting, funny, clever. I've never feel the thrill in Naruto or HxH which I feel while watching some of OP arcs.

But, hey... Not everyone can recognize excellent work in front of him... Don't blame yourself.

It has sold 350 Million+ copies world wide, which is the current record. And it is most popular on the 5 biggest manga and anime markets of the world namely: Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, France and Brazil. (Also the countries surrounding them but these countries are the biggest and represent the market the best in those areas)

I also took the liberty of finding out how popular One Piece is in the US, because i know how much narutards like to brag that Naruto is the biggest over there. And that is true. Well it WAS true, because Naruto lost massive readers after shippuuden and One Piece only continued to grow. So even on the American market (Source is Q99 sales ratings) One Piece has surpassed Naruto BY A MILE.

You call One Piece childish but you probably just don't like the early One Piece anime graphics, which again were created 15 years ago, probably when you still were a little boy. The One piece story also tackles subjects that other mangaka dont want to touch with a ten feet pole, racism, discrimination, ethnical cleansing etc.

Also look at this graph, One Piece has a way bigger adult fanbase because they stuck with the story so long and apparently like it enough to still be reading manga at a older age:

One Piece smashes the competition, it's not even funny. And probably that's why you don't like it. You hate that you can't get yourself to like something that the rest of the world enjoys.

"What do you guys see in One Piece?" EVERYTHING. Everything other manga/anime have and dont have. One Piece is the best. And whoever doesn't agree, that's fine, that's your opinion so dont question it. Just stick to not liking it if you want, or read/watch it and see what we OP fans see in it and what's so great about it. Either way is fine with us, cause every week we still enjoy it regardless..

Like me asking why do you like Naruto? I mean, I like Naruto, but not to the point I will defend it faithfully. Not after the horror show named the shinobi war anyway XD

Only few manga have achieved that status for me and those are One Piece and KnB. Why? Because week after week they either deliver great or good chapters. As for Naruto along with another I could name, KnB, which seems to have gotten stuck into the same routine as Naruto currently, deliver boring chapters where not much really gets done. And this has been going on for a while now. Naruto is a good manga, but recently has lost my interest and many others.
