They’re trying too hard to be like African Americans. It’s embarrassing.
To say that they’re influenced by African Americans would be an understatement. They’re almost entirely imitating them.
It wouldn’t surprise me if English Tupac and Biggie doppelgängers emerged, and they try to recreate the USA’s West Coast vs East Coast rap rivalry.

American rappers suck dic*. Most of the songs that come from there are all based around the beat and making random noises. If you understood UK slang you would understand that the lyrics are masterfully written. Fook America!

“American rappers” lol. Yeah, it’s not like rap IS American or anything :yeah:

Canadian rappers don’t make me cringe like these UK American-wannabes do. At least Canada is closely linked and related to the US, and Canadians and Americans have similar accents.

These shitty “grime” dudes are lame as hell. Wearing snapbacks with American baseball teams logos. And they sound really stupid saying the n-word, which is a deep and profound history in African American culture.

It sounds good.

But I also think trying to be some underground gangsta is not the right philosophy in life. If that's the case I don't know. I mean there are people who have had real oppression in their lives and who were genuinly controversial when they sang, trying to mimic that just to be cool kinda distorts it imo.

But I don't know anything about subcultures or like different classes or whatever.'¨

I mean I know police who hates that kind of behaviour.

Grime is fine but why they call it grime to begin with is beyond me. It's just rap. So call it rap.
