He didn't have disease, genius. Itachi was coughing blood due to his illness.
It was a disease, it was stated in the manga, the databook isn't a reliable source in this instance. It is true that with MS it consumes life force, it was even said that it was a disease, not Susano'o.

He most likely had a strain of Tuberculosis, but he also could have had AIDS along with it.
Considering the fact that he was so busy all the time, didn't have time for lovers, and showed no symptoms of Aids, it wasn't Aids. If you have to relate it to any illness to real life, it would be closest to Tuberculosis.
He was a really stressed-out guy. Kishimoto probably just decided to nerf him by giving him a fictional illness just so we'd never see him going all out or his full potential. It happens to alot of powerful characters in other mangas as well. I doubt that Kishimoto even knows what it was, lol. It was just plot sickness, Itachi died due to plot.
