I think u guys are perceiving this wrong....he doesn't want to kill Naruto, he was protecting him and the statement was more of him saying he will protect Kanoha and right his wrongs by doing so!

I think he means two things at once by speaking to both Naruto and Obito:

To Naruto: He's saying Naruto won't be the one to become Hokage, he will
To Obito: He won't be the one to kill Naruto, Sasuke will in order to become Hokage.

The erase the past comment means he will make up for all the wrongs in Konoha when he becomes Hokage, not Obito or his Tsuki no Me plan.

He's saying that he's gonna kill Naruto and become Hokage then erase all the bad things he did to Konoha. Or that he's gonna kill Naruto thus erasing their past and severing all bonds he had with him.
