Seems to me like Obito was trying to say Itachi would have killed him, had he had knowledge.

If not, what else would he be trying to say?

Obito isn't talking about kamui, he's referring to the right side of his body and his left arm being made of the first hokage's cells, meaning if Itachi knew this he would have made sure amaterasu hit the part of his body that wasn't clone material. I think when he jumped backwards into the shadows he ripped off his right arm, then quickly regenerated it.

EDIT - It was Obito's left hand,not his arm.

Tobi used izanagi. Now chances were itachi didn't know he had that ability because he wasn't aware he had hashirama's power. Even konan who was top brass in the akatsuki was shocked when tobi delivered the news. Tobi kept that a secret from everyone. So tobi in a nutshell was saying if itachi had knowledge on this, he would have prepared for it and as a result kill him.

If konan knew tobi had izanagi, guess what? She would have made her paper angel technique last 10 minutes + and kill him. Itachi would have done something like that.

I think Obito was simply talking about that specific moment exactly. I believe that was right after the amaterasu flames game out of Sasuke's eye. If he didn't have kamui he would have died right there.
