What did Naruto and Jiraiya do during their timeskip training?

Back in the beginning of Shippuden, compared to Sakura and Sasuke it seems like Naruto didn't improve that much during the 2 years he spent away. What were they doing? Peeping at girls and writing novels? Like seriously, That Genjutsu chakra system shutdown method is fodder at best and it's not even expected to work on high class Uchiha, considering it failed on fake Itachi clone in the first place. His Kyuubi control was disastrous and pitiful to say the least. Remember back in part one when he used to ask the Kyubi for chakra and he would just give it to him. What happened to that shit? Pre Shippuden he would go all rage mode and almost kill his friends. It seems to me like his Kyubi control got worse. I thought Jiraiya was supposed to help him tame control of the nine tails and keep in in locks, but he almost killed Kakashi and Sakura, not to mention he went berserk on Oro because he talked smack about his future secret man crush. The only thing that changed about pre Shippuden Naruto was his shadow clone timing and the fact that he got taller. That's it. It's funny, because compared to Sakura and Sasuke, Naruto was pathetic and shameful. Even if Sakura sucks, at least she came back with some better skills. You expect him to come back with more jutsu's and better battle sense, but no. All we saw was a larger version of Rasengan. So amazing. Naruto had to train again after he saved Gaara, and this time with Kakashi. Are you serious? So, Kakashi was the one that had to get Naruto stronger? Not Jiraiya? Ok Kishi. If Jiraiya knew Frog Sage Mode then why the fuq didn't he teach Naruto Sage Mode instead of doing basic training Naruto couldve done in Konoha? Or why didn't Jiraiya teach Naruto some of his basic toad techniques like Toad mouth trap? He could have even learned dark swamp. If Naruto actually did some training then we would have had more room to see more jutsu's and not just the boring Rasengan variants and Kyubi Bijuudama's that we are dealing with now..

That's a good question. Naruto got a bigger rasengan, more clone timing and can incorporate rasengan more. But you have a point.

^ this guy gets it. Jiraiya improved Naruto's building blocks of shinobi-hood. He also tried to teach him to control the Kyuubi, but that obviously couldn't happen because he would decimate Sasuke at that juncture.
