Sick of people saying:

"Minato is not fast, he just teleports"

So.

Are you trying to tell me that, the definition of speed is..

How fast you can move your legs?

And not..

How fast you can get to the target location?

Edit: I am quite surprised that a majority of people on this forum say that the second option is what defines speed, and yet most of the time i see people posting threads/comments saying the opposite.

i think its how quickly you can get to your target as minato still needs to be there or throw a kunai to telport that distance

It's predominantly known as "how fast one can get one from one point o another" but onthe base, most only consider movement speed as part of it an not teleporting because teleporting in of itself is not speed

Speed. = distance/time

S/t jutsu makes time = 0, therefore it is not classified as speed

The real answer to this is what the person thinks more appropiate to their bias/argument.
Yes it sucks but it's like that really.
In my opinion, both of them can be used, but in the end the latter is the most important.

Speed is distance traveled divided by the time of travel, running is the act of moving your legs quickly.

I believe since we are talking about ninjas who use ninjutsu as part of their arsenal any kind of technique that enhance their speed/power/stamina is acceptable.
I never saw anybody saying that Tsunade's base power is not good.
I don't see why Minato should be an exception.
I know your intentions are good but I am afraid this thread will be ruined by Itachi fanboys and Minato haters.

I actually go with react speed. React speed is everything in a battle. If you can react fast enough to dodge, or attack another spot on a enemy then the win is as good as yours.

Time it takes to get one point A to point B....

So you are saying, it is beyond speed?

What he said was wrong, spacetime is at least, four-dimensional, and one dimension is speed, it is faster than light. If it has distance to cover, there must be speed.

Yes teleporting is beyond speed.

So, the person who has such a power, better have some pretty amazing reaction times to use an ability like that.. And lucky for Minato, he does.

Speed is how fast you get from A to B, how fast you can move your legs is just a variable

Teleporting is not 'beyond' speed, not in Minato's case. Minato can still be seen by the yellow flash created upon traveling. Speed is distance traveled divided by the time of travel, Minato covers a distance, therefore time is used, and if time is used, there is speed.

And that speed is:

Distance/0 seconds..? It's impossible to divide by 0.

Teleportation is the transfer of matter from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them. So there is no distance traveled either. It's simply disappearing and reappearing somewhere else. You aren't traveling any distance.

Speed is the distance covered with time.....
Yes, minato's teleportation is "Instant" but it has flaws....
The fact that he needs to place seals in locations just before he could teleport to his destination makes it less effective.

Time is not used when teleporting. He covers a distance in no time at all.

You can see when he appears afterwards, but not when he teleports.

It's almost basic level physics.

But there is physical space between Minato and his destination, as proved by the yellow flash. The flash is the matter moving at high speeds. Teleportation in FTG sense is just figurative.
