Im really infatuated with cultures and other "worlds" and "realities". And for some time now Indian culture (specifically hindu) has really caught my eye and intrest. I love alot of things about Indian culture, the art, the archetecture, the Indian gods (and deities),etc. So anyways, as the thread title says, what culture(s) are you really facinated by? I actually have several, but I just like to observe them 1 at a time. Feel free to post pics and stuff.

Genetic studies suggest the group has the highest levels of mixed ancestry in the world, second only to the United States of America

Yep, it might be a bit cliché since we're all hear on a manga/anime based site, but yeah, feudal japan is totally awesome. I'm sure that many here have heard of Musashi Miyamoto, probably one of my favorites. That guy was like someone right out of Samurai Champloo. :lmao:

I have always held a fascination for ancient Rome, and ancient Greek mythology, and I also am very interested in the feudal era in Japan.

Almost every culture, ones that still exist and ones that no longer exist, were adopted from previous cultures. A current example would be the US. We overthrew British rule during the revolution because they were taxing the hell out of us and trying to control how we lived (I know there was a lot more to it than that, but lets just start there). Now, the American government does everything in its power to keep its citizens in control, raises taxes every year, does less and less to help the poor while doing more and more to help the rich, all the while trying to keep us thinking we have freedom. We became the same oppressors we overthrew. Throughout history, there have been many civilizations that were absorbed into the culture of a conquering army. Rome was in control of a massive part of the world for a very long time, and during that time they conquered many lands, which were all forced to adopt Roman culture as their own. Do you think that when the Roman empire collapsed these cultures all suddenly went back to exactly how they were before they were taken over? While I'm sure things changed, they usually never became exactly what they were, especially if it was under Roman control for several generations, new social norms were developed during that time.
