It's Madara's Will Materialization jutsu. It's different from Obito's Onmyouton jutsu (Madara taught that one to him too). They're both black-colored but they are different.

I really don't think it's a chakra rod if you notice when Pein uses it during his fight with Naruto it slip out of his sleeve, as though it was up his sleeve. Pein never produced chakra rods througout the palm of his hand, or thin air. Only time chakra rods came out of someone's body is when Nagato summoned the Gedo Mazzo.

It's also not plausible that a single chakra rod could control a god tree when it can even control Naruto in sage mode(Nagato fight)

I don't think the rod is for the god tree. I think it's for hashirama so madara can take advantage of his sage mode to maybe weaken obito to so that he can become the 10 tails Jin. Btw how is obito the 10 tails Jin still when he spit out the juubi and it then turned into a tree?

Black Chakra receiver. It's a rinnegan ability like displayed by deva and obito. It paralyses the target on contact and floods them with your chakra... Madara is either;

1) Going to attempt to control hashirama with it
2) Reverse the signal so that he's the one receiving signals, therefore receiving Chakra and nature energy from hashirama's body to attain Sage Mode
3) Paralyse hashirama and implant a piece of him again so that he can get a feel for the nature energy and learn what to absorb.
