Well I still see it as blue despite the contrast, the black part looks particularly dark brownish yellow/gold on higher contrast but the base color is still black.

The people that took the picture admitted that the dress is blue and black. And so did the store selling the dress.

So the 2 explanations. People are colorblind for that color. And the other one is that your brain gets tricked due to the lighting of the picture and it serves as a type of optical illusion where your brain expect it to look white and gold.

Either way the dress is for real blue and black.

I am guessing the light in the background gave out an optical illusion, and the camera lens making it further greater. What I can see it that if you lower the general light of it in photoshop or for that matter, any kind of editing software, you will get the original color of the dress, meaning it must just be blue and black.
