What broke the bond between Madara and Hashirama?

I've been reading the manga like I normally do and to see that Madara and Hashirama had such an unbreakable bond I was wondering what the hell broke them up? I think it was Mito. I think Madara fell for Mito but Mito fell for Hashirama therefore Madara swore vengeance on hashirama and the leaf.

Dude, its pretty obviously why Madara broke bond with Hashirama. It's cause Izuna death, he has sworn to protect him at all cost. Tobirama also stated that when an Uchiha lost their loves one, they are known as "evil" driven to the darkness. That's why Madara went outrages because he lost his only brother.
