I want you to contemplate pain, understand the definition of pain, feel the inevitable nature which pain leads to, either emotional or physical, too much pain can cause and individual to change. If someone hurts you constantly, you'd feel traumatised and can change or alter your personality, similar to the way if someone cuts you over and over there will be a point you would want them to stop cause you can't handle too much pain, wether it be emotionally, or physically.
