I didn't miss any information. The information provided about Yata and Totsuka don't fit the story of the manga, and they create plot hole. Plot holes are, well plot holes which are not explained/can't be explained. Which is exactly the case here. kishimoto didn't explain where those spirit weapons come from

Tenten's S06P weapons are not plot holes, because we know about it's origin. Yata and Totsuka are. Only fanfic assumptions can provide the answer for the origin of the spirit weapons

You want to know what a real plot hole is? A real plothole is this. In back to the future 2 when biff goes back in time to change the future in order to make him rich, Old biff comes back to the 2015 future where Marty and Doc already are and not a divergent timeline future that he should have gone to by making himself rich. THAT IS A PLOTHOLE. It can't be explained with logical though, and the plot actually refutes the ability for old biff to have been able to return the time machine to that future. The doc explains that if they were to go to the future then, they would be sent off to the future that Biff creates. This is unexplainable and the plot actually explains it to not make sense, making it a plot hole (though i'm not sure if the creators ever commented on this).

Yata mirror and totsuka blade however, they don't go against anything in this manga. There existence doesn't destroy the universe nor make the story impossible to happen. Just existing doesn't make them a plothole.

edit: Most jutsu and fights are based on assumptions since they are never going to happen anyways. Ofcourse assumption are going to be made about yata and the totsuka blade too. Assumptions are part of reading, the author cannot explain everything.

First of all, that databook is outdated and not legitimate anymore. It's the same one that says Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi are required to unlock susano'o lols.

Second, Limbo is a spiritual technique and unlike the weapons can't even be seen or sensed unless you have the six paths power.

Third, the Kurama and susano'o avatars are also spiritual.

Fourth, the gourd is composed of liquid and contains a genjutsu, thus it is made up of matter and chakra.

Fifth, Hagoromo transcended time and was the god of the six realms. You really think he's inferior to those weapons? If they're so powerful, why didn't Madara seek them out?

It's likely either the Ootsutsukis or the Uzumakis made them. They are sealing weapons after all just like the uzumaki jutsus and Hagoromo's tools. Prehistoric people with whale bone spears, loincloths and zero concept of chakra could never have conceived them, much less made them.
