but that's why Clannad topped the list when it comes to tear jerking anime, the likes of Ano Hana and Angel Beats stand no chance

Yeah it was quite effective. The ending wasn't overly well explained, though Clannad was originally a visual novel I think and I guess it's hard to transfer that into an explainable plot in the anime.

Death Note Anime-L's Death nd Death Note ending. It was the beat nd it really made me cry.

Naruto-the saddest was the death of Naruto's parents. Also Hiruzen, Itachi nd Jiraya's death.

Those three are definitely the 3 saddest anime.

But for me it goes a little differently.
