A kage bunshin is not only more resistant but it split natural chakra in 2 whereas elemental bunshin like lighting clones doesn't since it's composed of a certain quantity of lighting chakra.
Same for all other elemental clones.
Regular kage bunshin are more resistant they can fight taijutsu ( Kakashi clone vs Itachi 30% part 2 ) .
But i prefer elemental clones since it cost less chakra and they are nice for strategy like to paraylize or make diversion.
