Ok I believe that Orochimaru knew the real Madara and his plan for a long time and here is why:
1st Orochimaru knew to much about Hashirama's DNA.
2nd He grave robbed many places inorder to do experiments using Hashirama's Dna and I don't feel like there should have been anyone alive to know what Hashirama's DNA was capable of so their had to be someone feeding him knowledge in order for him to want to conduct experiments.
3rd It was said that Orochimaru was a =D loving personbut he changed after Nawaki died so with that in mind he could have changed after hearing from Madara about Project Moon Eye so Orochimaru cared less about human lives because he knew that they could have been brought back in the dream world which gave him this kind of attitude
4th Similar to Obito I think that down the line he planned on betraying Madara for power because its to obvious that he knows about the six paths history and decent, so he probably conducted more experiments on himself to become the body of paths, considering he had Hashirama's dna (Juugo from the dragon cave sage decent) that was the easy part know all he needed to do was get so Uchiha Dna and Shisui was a likely candidate but Danzo for seen that an took his eye (knowing he wouldn't betray the village, Coup de ta). Itachi was another candidate but to unlikely and the only other Uchiha alive that could completely stimulate his sharingan is Sasuke (whom he still considers and experiment/not done with).
5th So Orochimaru would have the Rinnegan by the time Madara was reincarnated so that he could battle him for my conclusion
I believe that all this time Orochimaru was planning getting the rinnegan for himself to fight Madara but time fell short on time(waiting for his body to adjust to compatibility level for senju/uchiha DNA) so he is making the adjusted preparations by playing along :leaf: with the alliance to
