What anime did you expect to suck, but turned out really good?

Like in the beginning when you watched it was boring and/or before you watched it you thought it would suck? But then when you got more into the story it was actually really awesome?

For me it was Naruto.

I always thought Naruto was a childish anime that had no story-line whatsoever and a few ninja's pointlessly fighting one another. It took my poor friend 6 months to finally convince me to watch it lol, but he did get me hooked to Anime.

Other animes after Naruto were:-

Death Note (Yeah i'm thankful i didn't get to miss on this one)
Code Geass (EPIC)
Gurren Lagan (MANLY/ENTERTAINING)
FMA-Brotherhood (AWESOME)
Soul Eater (GOOD)

uhh Samurai Champloo.. top 3 anime's of all time in my honest opinion now.. great one if you guys are looking for a badass samurai anime.

Originally thought it looked silly, but after 1 full episode i was hooked faster than any other anime.

You thought FMA was bad? lo,l I only knew it was going to be good because I watched the 2003 Anime.
But I thought Naruto was bad at first then Zabuza and Haku arc came and my cousins and uncle told me about the subbed eps online that hadn't been dubbed and got hooked, eventually I got to the point where we had to wait every week for a new episode.

When I started watching Naruto and he always kept saying "believe it" in english dub which really annoyed me and I almost stopped watching.

Same with One Piece, the character designs were so ugly at first.....
