Itachi having Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan is like:

1) Naruto having power equal to the Sage of the Six Paths
2) Orochimaru having Uchiha body
3) Konohamaru becoming more stronger than all the fodder Jounin
4) Tsunade becoming the strongest Kage

In simple terms, it will never happen and if it does than we can easily say that the certain character is way too much overrated. Itachi is already overrated but him having EMS will allow him to achieve something even greater than being overrated.

well....i think itachi may possibly figure out a way to gain EMS, or somehow retain his sight even after MS overuse. His chakra reserves will increase even more, his susanoo will be upgraded...possibly reach perfection. He maybe able to master perfect manipulation of amaterasu along with susanoo like sasuke. His genjutsu will be more and more advanced. He may actually have a summoning creature. His will possibly gain more ninjustu knowledge like orochimaru and will master high level fire techniques. Not to mention he will always have Totsuka blade and Yata mirror. So, to put it simply, itachi will solo the entire Narutoverse.
Why do you think Kishi actually killed him off so early??? It's obvious that itachi's potential, his skills and intelligence are so high that he can surpass anyone if allowed to live that long!!!

It's not like if he just lived for a few more years he would have gotten over his illness, the guy was dying either way.
