I will not go over what happened between the Kyuubi Attack and the Uchiha Clan Massacre because we all know the story. But I was thinking about this.

Itachi and Hiruzen both believed that if the Uchiha attempted a coup d'etat, a civil war will begin and the Fourth Shinobi World War will commence so Itachi murders his clan.

But this was based on the assumption other lands will invade Konoha and the Land of Fire once the civil war begins. It doesn't seem so when we look at the fact that:

1. Nobody external forces invaded the Land of Fire or Konoha during the Kyuubi Attack even though Konoha was severely weakened.

2. Nobody attacked Konoha after the Sunakagure-Otakagure joint Invasion of Konoha even though the Leaf Village was at arguably its weakest point after the Invasion.

3. Nobody attacked the country when/after Pain invaded.

I'll love to debate, discuss this! :D

Enjoy  ~

When the uchiha were massacred, it was the point in time just after the end of a war. If the leading figure of one side of the war were to lose half of its military might, it is likely that it will be invaded. While the kyuubi attack was after a war, not much of the village was devastated to warrant a full invasion of an opposing nation. While the orochimaru invasion did leave it relatively weaker, it also led sunagakure to become allied with the leaf, which also ensured konoha's stability. After the pain invasion, akatsuki was the prominant threat to each nation and village, which created unity between the ninja villages. That's my take on it.

Well the way Danzo put it...it seemed as though he and Itachi went behind even Hiruzen's back, but they were nor wrong.

Hiruzen wanted to find an answer through speech, but when the Uchiha refused to listen the action that passed was a justified one.

In doing so just one clan was killed as opposed to the many that would have died if it had been rebellion for not only would the entire Uchiha clan have perished, but many Konoha shinobi would have died. Then an opposing nation would have attacked causing more death as well as civilian casualties. With the Fire County's shinobi gone, the opposing nations could invade them causing even more possible deaths...some on the other nations, but a majority in the Fire Country which would have ended up leaving its people in poverty or a subjugated life.

For the first one the villages were already Waring and a civil war would have been even worse.
So if u were to get attacks from other countries then the genocide was necessary
2. The villages were at peace and the village was not that badly destroyed
3. Pain decimated the area. Not much to conquer that and the countries were still at peace considering they had a summit right afterwards

1. I don't believe they got really really huge lost of that, Kinda fodders like Iruka's Dad/mom or some of anbu's. I don't get dat anbu thing too always dying ^^,

2. You were right about that one but it's why they rushed to select new Hokage. But you re kinda right they don't have Hokage dat time. But still Sneaky Danzo arounds, But its just Lost of Hokage i guess or several anbu maybe. Danzo would be in charge in dat time if any invansion would happen i guess.

3. Pein literally destroyed ^^ There's no need for invansion, but there's no any life lost, Nagato revived all of them as you know. They just need to re-build their homeland. And Kakashi&Danzo in charge(kinda) at dat time while Tsunade in coma.

another thing i believe these things can't be deliver so quickly, it's another reason of that i guess.

Civil strife always spills out of it's borders. If Konoha, the greatest village were in a civil war villages like Kumo or Iwa would take full advantage, just look at what Kumo attempted during the peace talks when they tried to kid nap Hinata.
