Actually, 'her will' is not precisely how I think she survived.

I'm talking about the Juubi. Zetsu came from the Mazou, and I'm telling that Kaguya has been living from these cells, meaning that Kaguya essence is in each Zetsu, even in the black one.

Why would the tree/Kaguya ask Madara to absorb it in first place? That is weird if you don't consider this possibility.
