Was Sasuke actually talking about another battle? Even though both of them have put aside their differences, united for the same cause and know for a fact that:

a.) the world needs both of them to protect it
b.) war and battle are over
c.) that they both accepted the fact that if they fought, they would both die (like they would've at VoTE 2)

I understand they're still rivals but I don't think Sasuke was talking about a battle at all. It definitely isn't something we'll ever see anyway, I think Sasuke is talking about their bond.

Working out where they stand with one another, considering it HAD been mere days since they'd been reunited after so many years & death battles- I think they're finally assessing each other as grown men- which actually has a much deeper meaning too.

Well that doesn't match up with what he's doing at all. Also cold eyes are a Sasuke exclusive, what other eyes does that guy have? He can still give an ominous sizing up without being like 'yeah im still going to kill you in the future bc the last year of manga development apparently means nothing'

Can you than explain why Sasuke is still holding on to his headband. Even though Naruto and him are cooperating fine in the Gaiden?

Cooperating being the key word, Sasuke still is initially hostile and the two are held together by the whole Kaguya thing still but I wouldn't say they've made their peace. Especially with Sasuke having been gone literally all this time.

Its been 12 years now and they still haven't made peace? What sort of peace are you really looking for? They already trust each other and cooperate well together. I still feel this means settling there fight between them. Because if what you said was correct than he would have stopped holding on to his headband.

The headband isn't just a symbol of their rivalry, it's also a symbol of their bond and of Sasuke's bond with Konoha.

Although there seems to be silent cooperation, it's unlikely they've lost the urge to fight each other. The rivalry still exists, plus now it will be further complicated because of their kids' affections/admirations.
