They have on and off been teasing moments between Sarada and Boruto and anyone with half a brain new Sumire was going to crush hard on Boruto the moment she was introduced. Still the upcoming chapter really pushed it too far.

Here is dialogue from the latest chapter.

Sumire: …Are you interested in him, Sarada?

Boruto-kun, I mean.

Sarada: What?

…What do you mean?

Of course not.

Sumire: …Hmm…

…I see…

It is clear the they have banked on shipping and especially Hinata fans as a way to boost the series popularity.

Kodachi's already leaning/confirming my assessment and a selective scan out of context doesn't add any proof to your suggestion.

Both Mitsuki and Sumire have expressed legit affection for Boruto. Now Kodachi bringing in a clear statement of denial from Sarada and intent from Sumire diminishes any possibility of a love rivalry between those 2. However Mitsuki who's snake is always ready for Boruto and has licked him and Sumire who's expressing clear feelings for Boruto are still on the table.

Same here the fact that she's expressed feelings for Boruto has made it clear she'll get more screen time. Who knows we may even get to see adult Nue.
