watching the anime is way funnier (more humor) but if you want to catch up fast read it and than watch the good fights in the anime and one piece gets better and better after you reach alabasta you will be hooked and in enis lobby you will die from epicness

READ!

Take this in mind, the Manga allows for your imagination to pour into the story. Although the Manga is deeply detailed, it still allows for much to imagine, given that the Manga is a compilation of still moments, and you can fill the gaps between them. The Anime is more like 1 interpretation of the Manga, which not only fills the gaps between Manga's still moments, also adds it's own moments, which can be better or worse than your imagination. Nonetheless, I always found it more entertaining to read the Manga, just like I prefer to read a Book. I do watch the Anime, and there are indeed details that the Anime clarified for me, but Manga is still, in my opinion, better than Anime.

You don't want to get spoiled !

If you're going so fast through the story you will find out these things for yourself soon enough.

I would say read untill you're up to date, then rewatch when you have time for it.

im tired of reading so much since ive read like 40 chapters today and it looks like this is gonna be a pretty intense fight with don kreig and his awsome armor

edit: seems to be around episode 22
also is there any arcs that i should watch instead of read or vice versa

same thought as mine!
I prefer WILD imagination of mine than other people's imagination...
But some moments ,you can't resist watching in action....
I mix them and enjoy better....
