I had a theory that the Masked Man was an advanced Zetsu clone that Orochimaru created for Madara in exchange for something else.
The basis was three things. First, that when Madara was resurrected as an Edo and Kabuto introduced himself, he called himself "Orochimaru's Kabuto". I found it odd that he'd bring up Orochimaru, seeing how Madara shouldn't even know who that is. It made me think those two had some sort of relationship.
Second, that the Masked Man was no ordinary human. Both times we've seen him bleed (against Fuu and Torune, and especially against Minato), it wasn't blood. It was some white goo.
And lastly, we all know about how Orochimaru is into human experimentation and all that. It shouldn't have been difficult for Orochimaru to create a Zetsu clone, especially if he was given one beforehand to base the experiment off of.
It also helped that the Masked Man dogged Orochimaru several times for different reasons. It was obvious he hated Orochimaru, and it could have been for creating him to do Madara's bidding.

At least I got the Masked Man being a Zetsu half right lol

I thought Orochimaru wanted Sasuke's body in order to absorb all forms of natural energy and become as powerful as the Juubi because it was already stated that the Juubi was entirely composed of Natural Energy.

At its core was the Gedo Mazou which I assumed at the time turned into the Juubi because it couldn't control the Natural Energy it was absorbing, like the people who turned into Toads because they couldn't control the Frog Oil.

I thought the theory was pretty awesome though. lol

I wrote a theory once that Madara might have been Nagato's dad (on a different site) - they had exactly the same haircut. I sort of morphed that theory into one that is every bit as out there though.
