It's called character development. It's far better than what most of the other characters receive. Pain converted to Naruto in a single tnj. Kisame converted by Obito in a single tnj. With Sasuke it's gradual. for example, meeting with Itachi causes Sasuke to want answers. Hearing the Hokage's question causes him to want to change the system and give up revenge. This gradual development can been seen in his descent into darkness. Fighting on the battlefield causes him to defend his comrades again.
