Weapon/trap masters: A dead style?

Let's see...you have specialists in ninjutsu,tai and genjutsu, medical..ect....

I've always wondered...how dangerous would a traps only using ninja be? Like if he could use high level traps/weapons on the level Itachi uses genjutsu or gai uses Taijutsu?

Personally, I think this would be a lethal expertise for 3 reasons:

1. Terrain advantage- setting up traps in a specific areaarea (like shikamaru did hidan, gives you a extreme advantage.

2. Multi-layered traps-Setting a trap that's not hard to detect because you WANT them to detect it because it leads to another trap...and perhaps another one after that. Pretty dangerous right?

3. Types of traps-exploding tags, falling logs, poison gas traps, sealing traps, pitfall traps...the options are limitless.. ..

So....the question is, how dangerous would guy like this be? Are trap/weapon masters dead?

(noteable traps: Shikamarus pitfall trap and Fus' cursed seal trap with mind transfer.)

Tenten is the weakest in team guy and she's a specialist who's been going under similar training like her counterparts

All High ranked Chunin and above are master trap setters... But in recent series development, traps are just as a pebble on the road...

Traps can't be powered up and are hard to constantly come up with why would Kishi put in all that extra work to not sell more manga?
In a real military there would indeed be some need for a trap specialist primarily to instruct academy students and lower level ninja on how to make and avoid them but that makes a one dimensional soldier and Konoha tends to prefer well balanced teams that can accomplish a wider range of missions. If they were gonna give someone unimportant a power up like Iruka. Traps would be a good idea.
