^^^These people don't truly know what character development is or an effective villain. They clearly don't see that strategy/tactic, power, resillience, intelligence and success are the key aspects of a great villain!

Take Kaguya and Madara for example. Black Zetsu is Kaguya's will, so through Black Zetsu, Kaguya ingeniously manipulated the entire Uchiha clan for centuries, effectively started and manipulated the entire shinobi world, and she ultimately succeeded in having the infinite tsukuyomi casted on the world and being revived. You can not honestly say that this was not brilliant strategizing and a perfect execution of patience and timing on Black Zetsu's (and therefore Kaguya's) part.

Furthermore Kaguya has the epic power to back it all up! That is a true villain! She can get stuff done!

Madara, like Kaguya, also orchestrated things in an excellent manner! He even took extra measures to ensure his survival against Hashirama using that delayed Izanagi. It is stuff like this that shows the characteristics of a true tactician! He also had the power to back it up and he ultimately casted infinite tsukuyomi!

This is another great villain!

Weakling lovers also say that characters like this are one dimensional. These people really lack reading comprehension skills!

Take Madara for example:

It was revealed that he grew up in a time of war where children as young as 7 were constantly dying! Madara lost all 4 of his brothers in this war and saw many other families suffer the same trauma! It should be easy then to see how Madara would become disgusted with the state of the world and then desire to change it!

Even when the village was founded, negative rumours were being spread about the Uchiha. Madara was aware of this and he was aware of the eventual conflict that was certain to ensue! That is why he tried to get the Uchihas to leave the village, but the Uchiha rejected Madara.

This pain easily serves as a motivator for Madara's actions. This clearly shows motivation and character development. For those people who can't see it, you either lack empathy or comprehension or both.

Kaguya is the pure representation of greed and lust for power! This is shown by her lust for obtaining all chakara. How can you not see the symbolism that Kaguya is! Kaguya represents those corrupt people in the world who seek to gain everything. She is like Hitler both with geonicide and the fact that she wants all the chakara just as Hitler wanted all of the countries under his control!

Development as a symbol is a form of character development, but the weakling lovers are too blinded by their hatred of power to see this!

In short, Kaguya and Madara have the development/symbolism, as well as the power, intelligence and strategic ability to get stuff done!

It doesn't matter if Kaguya cried or got affected by sexy jutsu! If Hitler cried or got distracted by this, that would not make him any less evil or effective of a man as he was in history!

If a man cures cancer and eliminates world hunger (or if he plunges the world into darkness and carries out the geonicide of all humans) it doesn't matter if he cries at soap operas in his free time or collects cabbage patch kids! The fact of the matter is, they still effectively revolutionized the world!

You weakling lovers only want to see those kukuku villains who only make creepy faces all day and don't get anything done! Well I just hope you are not in politics.

You say villains like Orochimaru are developed properly, but if you think about it, what do we really know about him? We know that:

1. His parents died when he was a kid and that made him obsessed with immortality and gaining all jutsus.
2. He is a sannin.
3. He wanted to destroy Konoha, but he no longer desires this.
4. He wants an Uchiha body (namely Sasuke's)
5. He now wants to follow Sasuke's path
6. He is a great scientist.

Out of this list, only number one is real character related info. Number 2 is irrelevant. The reason for number 3 has not been explained. He does a terrible job with number 4 (and number 3 actually). Number 5 is not even really evil nor does it really do anything. Number 6 is the only good thing about him.

Yet he is supposed to be so developed and hyped up. He is terrible. He accomplishes nothing, does more good than evil (like reviving the hokages to help with the war), and we don't really know that much about him!

Yet people don't call him one dimensional! All he does is say vague things and go kukuku. People call Hinata a pokemon with her Naruto Kun. Well grab a poke ball because we have got a new snake pokemon in town. His sound is kukuku.

With people like Madara, Obito and Kaguya, we have true depth! We can see the extent of their planning, their hard work, their motivation, and their symbolism all while giving us entertainment with their epic power!!

This is development! Kukukuku is not development! A good villain is not just about pure evil! It is about effectiveness!

That is all I have got to say except for one last question:

Do you weakling lovers hate Marvel/DC action movies as well?

I daresay there is nothing wrong with appreciating a character's personality.

I for instance like both epic action and interesting characterization/development.

This coming from a person who loved Man of Steel's fighting scenes/destruction, but I sometimes enjoy weaker characters as well. There are more sides to them than power after all.

The thing is you made Madara and Kaguya out with such descriptive passion and skimmed over the real detail of Orochimaru's character. By your thread's standard, half of Orochimaru's development is null. Kaguya is a shit character, by the way. She has literally no personality.

The funny thing is we know less about Kaguya than we do about Orochimaru.

Orochimaru: One of the most intriguing personalities in this manga for sure, Orochimaru is hard to define. He seems to have an end goal: to learn all the Jutsu of the Shinobi world. But what following that?

The chapters in the mid 300s swayed me to believe something quite diffferent: he seeks his rebirth. He's displayed a general disdain for the fragility of the average Human Life, and seeks something more.

His rebirth into, so to speak a world in which he is God. All the Shinobi techniques at his disposal, and near immortality; him finding a white snake near his parents' grave and Hiruzen's explanation of said animal being utilized as a symbol for Rebirth explains his reptilian persona and body shedding.

He seeks Rebirth.

I'm not saying that it is bad to like personality, but people obsess over it to the point where people who get the job done are called bad villains just for having power.

I thought Madara was awesome at first, but he became a troll... THAT'S why I was so pleased when he got pimp-slapped by Black Zetzu.
I like Kayuuga--I just hope she stays a good villan.

I'm pissed at Kishi more than either of them for ruining "that Jutsu"

I did in fact mentioned the immortality thing. You just mentioned it in a more elegant way. The fact of the matter is: "He has a strong disdain for the fragility of life, so he seeks immortality and rebirth" is just an elegant way of saying he doesn't like death so he wants to become immortal. I mentioned this and actually went even further to mention the death of his parents.

I also mentioned his goal of getting all jutsus. I skimmed over nothing.

How did Madara become a troll? He got the job done!

Was it because Guy damaged him? If so, did you really expect Kishi to hype 8 gates up and then have it do nothing?

I've noticed that you always claim that villains who achieve nothing are bad villains, but what about the fact that good guys always win (unless it's some really serious drama/tragedy)? I mean, if you have one action movie for example it's not like villains will be able to achieve much. Especially in superhero movies that are inevitably targeted at younger audiences (merchandise and all). So, would you say they are all bad villains?

Also, I don't think people are really obsessed with personality, it's usually the opposite, and all those bashings are usually results of fan wars (i. e. Obito fans calling Madara lame etc).

The one thing I don't like about Kaguya's character is that she hasn't really had any dialogue. Black Zetsus done all the talking for her so far. It would be nice to get a feel for her character, and see how she is, and her personality. I wish she would talk more, and Black Zetsu would shut up. She has the potential to be a great character, but right now she's still a blank-canvas that needs ore development, especially if she going to be the final villain.

Kaguya may have a great history, but that doesn't mean that she has character development. She going to need some dialogue, and her own explanation as to why she's doing what she's doing. I'll be kind of annoyed if black Zetsu does all the talking for her, the whole way through. Even though he's her will incarnate.

Except that's literally the entire point of his character: his pursuit of eternal rebirth. I don't see what you're saying.

Both terrible characters.
Exactly, its power fappers.that don't know crap about Character development. Kaguya doesn't have any form of personality, or development she's a one dimensional power fantasy.

Even in action movies, the villains still at least put on a good show and do actually show some success. They just don't have time to show a lot.

You mentioned the movie Man of steel, so I will use that as an example.

Zod and his crew were actually succeeding in terra forming the earth and they were even beating up super man. Superman stopped him at the very end.

Here is a better analogy to think about:

What if that movie was remade, but with a twist? You sit down at the theater and excitedly wait for the movie to begin. The movie starts, and straight from the start, Super man throws a knife at Zod and kills him in the first 5 seconds of the movie. Movie over.

Would you really find this epic? That is the kind of feeling that Orochimaru gives off.
