I think he is going to go through with it, and fail for some reason. Then Madara will start the moon's eye genjutsu thing while Naruto and Obito are in the other dimension, which should stop them from being trapped. And that will set up Naruto vs Madara.

Just my opinion though.

I don't agree. Too many hints in the last chapters... Naruto will come after Gai's awakening the eighth gate as much, but if something is sure is that we WILL see the eighth gate.

I don't think he will use it either. Kishi always does this, someone is going to use some big attack that is going to kill him/kill everyone/whatever, and then someone else comes in and stops them at the last second. Naruto will come back and say stop at the last second, or Lee will stop him at the last second, or Obito, or Kabuto, or Sasuke. Actually it is going to be TenTen, she's going to call Guys name, and he will answer, then be sealed in the sage's big pot for all eternity.
