Naruto is one of those stories where you can never tell who is good and who is 'evil'. I've noticed that on a lot of these threads we slate the antagonists for being 'emo' but have we actually looked at it from the flip side? What the actions of the Shinobi Villages have been?
Let's start off with the Mist Village:
The Mist kidnapped an innocent 15 year old girl in Rin and made her into the Jinchuuriki of the Sanbi just to get back at the leaf.
-They were known as the bloody mist even before Obito controlled Yagura showing that their actions were from their own will.
-Taught Shinobi to kill others and completely abandon all sides of humanity.
-Sent children onto the battlefield so that Shinobi from other village may show hesitance.
Next up we have the Cloud:
-They isolated Bee for years.
-Attempted to capture Hinata.
-Killed Hizashi even though Hiashi was clearly only acting out of self defence.
-Have also been known for kidnapping other members from specialist clans.
The Stone
-Used the Akatsuki as mercenaries for the village
-Have been known for using dirty handed tactics
The Sand:
-Isolated Gaara for years.
-Allied with an S-Rank Criminal to seek revenge on the Leaf.
-Sent various Shinobi on many occasions to assassinate Gaara
And finally we have the Leaf:
-From the looks of things, played a part in the death of Orochimaru's parents.
-Sent Children onto the battlefield (Obito, Kakashi and Rin) exactly what Hashirama didn't what, which doesn't make them any better than the Mist.
-Caused mass destruction in the Hidden rain village in the Second Shinobi War, which resulted in the death of Nagato's parents.
-Discriminated against the Uchiha for years.
-Exterminated the Uchiha.
-Discriminated against and isolated Naruto and suddenly act as if they've cheered him on for years.
-Also there was no need for Hanzo and Danzo to orchestrate Yahiko's death. The original Akatsuki did not really show any signs of starting a civil rebellion in the hidden Rain and especially no need for Danzo to get involved.
-Danzo worked with an S-Rank criminal to fulfill his dirty work.
Now I'm definitely not saying that the antagonists are justified, but we should look at it more from the flip side and not pass all of them off as 'emo'.
